Memphis Central Lady Warriors fell just short in the TSSAA Girls Basketball semifinal game to Riverdale. Riverdale went on to win their 5th State Championship. The young Central team returned home focused on next year.
The TSSAA Boys Basketball Championship series began Wednesday. Cordova tipped off versus Walker Valley at 10:00 am. The Wolves made it look easy as they defeated Walker Valley 79-58. They advance to Friday’s 10:00 am semifinal game against Station Camp. In their quest for their first TSSAA Boys Basketball Championship, they could run into Memphis’ own East Mustangs. Memphis East defeated Hillsboro in their AAA quarterfinal game with a score of 70-61. They move on to Friday’s 11:30 am semifinal game against Blackman, the only undefeated team in Tennessee.
Booker T. Washington defeated a pesky Nashville Christian team 63-51. They hope to play a better game Friday at 1:15 pm versus Van Buren in the A semifinals. The Mitchell Tigers defeated their quarterfinal opponent, Middle Tennessee Christian School, with a score of 55-41. They will face Hampton who went into overtime with Clay County today.
The TSSAA Semifinals will be Friday and loaded with SCIAA teams playing in the morning. Cordova will face Station Camp at 10:00 am. Memphis East will tip off with Blackman at 11:30. After the AAA games, BTW will take on Van Buren at 1:15 pm. Mitchell will play Hampton at 2:45 pm.
There is a chance for an all Memphis finals in both the AAA and A divisions. Championship games will be played Saturday. The AAA Championship game will start at 1:00 pm with the A Championship game following at 3:30. Good luck to our teams and safe travels!
